Modular homes come in various shapes and prices. The best ones are basically the same price as traditional brick/concrete houses.
Be careful about your choices. Have in mind that what seems to be appropriate for north europe, might not be the best for the Algarvian climate.
Also be aware of companies that say that no council authorizations are necessary for modular homes of a certain type, and that will turn out not to be true.
